The Research Training Group "The Dynamics of Demography, Democratic Processes and Public Policy" (DYNAMICS) is a joint doctoral programme of the Hertie School and Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. It is financed by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and provides PhDs with doctoral training in theories and methods of demography, democracy and public policy. It provides doctoral researchers with a unique and internationally competitive three-year PhD programme in cutting-edge quantitative methods and advanced theories of demography, democracy and public policy.

PhD candidates of DYNAMICS who have a Hertie School faculty member as their first supervisor are usually matriculated at the Hertie School, and receive their degree from the Hertie School.
