Double Degree MPP + MDS
Today's complex issues call for a new generation of problem solvers who can combine policy and data science to create solutions for government, civil society and business. The Master of Data Science for Public Policy (MDS) equips students with the skills to address some of the world’s most challenging issues with responsible data-driven solutions.
Now, Master of Public Policy (MPP) students in the Policy Analysis concentration can follow a 2+1 track, which allows them to earn a double degree in the MPP and the MDS in a total of 6 semesters. In the first two years of study, students complete the MPP as well as MDS core course requirements. In year three, students complete the MDS requirements.

FAQs
No. If you aim to complete the MPP and MDS course work in 6 semesters, you cannot study abroad. If you hesitate between Dual Degree or an academic exchange and the Double Degree, we recommend applying to both, to maximise your options.
Yes, this is possible. You would need to apply for the Double Degree in the second half of your professional year (Spring semester).
Double Degree students pay for three years of tuition: the full fee of the MPP and 50% of the MDS fee.
MPP and MDS full fees are 37,500 euros, which translates into 37,500 euros + 18,750 euros for the full 2+1 degree. Fees are paid by semester.
Please note that MPP tuition waivers are rolled over automatically to the additional year in the MDS programme. Students continue to benefit from any tuition waivers in the third year. Full scholarships cannot be rolled over from the MPP to the additional year in the MDS programme.
The first step is to apply to the MPP. Once admitted, you can start your studies and you must, before the end of your first year at Hertie, apply to the Double Degree.
