Stipends and scholarships

Climate Action Scholarship

As the world faces megatrends such as climate change and increasing inequality that pose threats to social stability in the future, the study of responsible governance is essential in the coming decades. The Climate Action Scholarship is for students interested in global sustainability, renewable energy and the transformation of energy systems. Applicants must possess the desire to deepen their knowledge in this field by examining governance structures, policies, markets, technology and new ideas in order to achieve the material and social conditions of long-term and universal human well-being.

  • Open to applicants of all nationalities
  • 3 full scholarships worth 34,500 euros

Who is it for?

This scholarship is aimed at students who wish to explore climate action, sustainability, and energy policy issues.

How to apply

  • First, submit a standard application to the MPP programme.
  • Additionally, write a one-page personal statement elaborating on your interest in climate action and how your studies at the Hertie School could serve this purpose.
  • Send the personal statement to grad-admissions[at]hertie-school[dot]org after a standard application has been submitted.  

Interested applicants should submit their application and essay before 1 February. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview with a faculty member.
