Executive Master of Public Administration: Funding your studies
We are committed to attracting the best students from around the world. To achieve this goal, the Hertie School awards financial aid and partners with a variety of organisations to offer the following options to fund your studies: scholarships, external funding and modular entry.
Scholarships
Scholarships are one way we support Executive MPA students in financing their studies – we offer full and partial scholarships to cover up to 100% of tuition fees.
Full scholarships are competitive awards based on academic excellence, personal suitability, motivation and financial need. They cover 100% of the tuition fees and are targeted towards applicants with specific profiles or interests. These scholarships often require a supplemental essay.
Partial scholarships are reductions to tuition fees that range from 10% to 50%. We offer two types of partial scholarships: general scholarships that every applicant that demonstrates financial need can apply for and special scholarships targeted towards applicants with specific profiles or interests. For all scholarships, we base our decision on the personal suitability (including previous relevant professional experience), academic excellence, motivation and financial need of the candidates. Our scholarships do not cover living expenses.

How do I apply for a scholarship?
- Create an account through our application portal for the Executive MPA programme.
Submit your application for admission by one of the following deadlines: Early Bird (1 December), or Priority Deadline (1 June). We recommend you apply as early as possible.
- Upon receiving an admission offer, you will be invited to access the Full and Partial Scholarship portal. You will have two weeks to complete your scholarship application.
You can apply for both full and partial scholarships at the same time.
You must be admitted to a programme before applying for any scholarships. Please note that you can only apply for one full scholarship per year.
Modular entry
Executive MPA Courses can also be booked individually or in combination as a certificate. Credits earned and fees paid for these can be fully transferred to the Executive MPA programme at a later date. Registrations for open enrollment courses are accepted throughout the year.
External funding
Apart from scholarships, there are a number of financing possibilities outside of the Hertie School including private and public foundations, banks and other national or international institutions. External funding options vary according to an applicant's country of origin.
