Wolfgang Seibel is an Emeritus Professor of Politics and Public Administration at the University of Konstanz and a Senior Fellow of the Hertie School. He held Guest Professorships at the University of California at Berkeley (1994), Stanford University (2014), the Central European University (2014, 2016), the University of Pretoria (2017) and the University of Utrecht (2019-20). He was a Temporary Member of the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton (1989-90, 2003), a Fellow of the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin (2004-05) and of the Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Study (STIAS) (2019). In 2009, he was elected a member of the Heidelberg Academy of Science. Seibel is running the long-term research project “Black Swans in Public Administration: Rare Organizational Failure with Severe Consequences” funded through the Reinhart Koselleck program of the German Research Foundation (DFG, project no. 329566223) one result of which is his monograph, “Collapsing Structures and Public Mismanagement” (Palgrave Macmillan 2022, Open Access). Wolfgang Seibel is also co-editor of “Conference Diplomacy and International Order. From the Congress of Vienna to the G7” (Palgrave MacMillan 2024).
