Before studying social sciences at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg, Prof. Dr. Monika Gonser was trained as an interpreter of Russian and worked in the field of international cooperation with a number of civil society organisations. After finishing her PhD on labour relations and the EU regulatory framework in the Baltic States she focused on the issue of knowledge mobilisation at the interface between academia and practitioners and transdisciplinary research. Having coordinated a living lab on refugee integration in the Rhine-Neckar region, she was a visiting professor at the Indo-German Center for Sustainability at the IIT Madras in Chennai, India. Since April 2020 she has been head of the Intersectoral School of Governance Baden-Württemberg, focusing on issues of collaborative governance and intersectoral cooperation.
