Małgorzata Szuleka is Head of Advocacy at the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights. Since 2009, Malgorzata has been one of the HFHR’s leading lawyers and researchers, often partnering with, among others, the European Agency for Fundamental Rights on major research projects concerning topics including children’s rights, rights of victims of crimes and access to justice. Malgorzata has also been documenting the rule of law crisis in Poland by publishing numerous briefs and reports concerning changes to the the judicial system and attacks on judges and prosecutors. Her research and advocacy focus on issues concerning the independence of the judiciary, threats to the rule of law and democratic backsliding as well as a shrinking civil society space. She serves on the boards of Polish and international organisations (Foundation Action Democracy and Civil Liberties Union for Europe). She is also a member of the Warsaw Bar.
