Sebastian Gallander started working at a creative communications agency until he finally won a Harvard fellowship for the John F. Kennedy School of Government. There he learned how to write about public policy. He returned to Germany with a Master’s in Public Administration (MPA) and joined the philanthropic / non-profit sector. Eventually, he was appointed managing director of the Vodafone Foundation that aimed at improving educational opportunities for disadvantaged children, and then he helped building up the nebenan.de foundation that strives to boost neighborly care in society. Parallelly, Sebastian published widely on urgent social issues in leading national media such as Süddeutsche Zeitung, faz . net, Die Zeit and Spiegel Online. Above all, he began to discover the elevating bliss of teaching inspired upcoming public leaders from across the globe at the Hertie School. He lives in Berlin as professional writer and (very) unprofessional gardener.
