Starting in academic year 23/24, Centre for Sustainability faculty have the opportunity to select excellent master's theses to receive the Outstanding Master's Thesis designation. Winners of this award will be announced by the Centre and selected students will receive an award.
Procedure
All students who write their master’s thesis at the Hertie School are eligible for consideration. All faculty may nominate outstanding theses by sending the relevant thesis to Christian Flachsland, Centre Director. Centre faculty select students to receive the outstanding thesis award. Faculty may select as many or as few outstanding theses as they see fit.
Outstanding Master's Thesis Award 2024
- Greta Lotz (MPP 2024) won for her thesis “The Impact of Carbon Taxes on Emissions – The Case of the Norwegian Transport Sector”, supervised by Prof. Johanna Arlinghaus
- Kai Foerster (MDS 2024) won for his thesis “Predicting building age from 3D GIS, street view images and transaction data using machine learning”, supervised by Prof. Lynn Kaack.
