Leonard Novy is a journalist and communications expert. He advises select organizations in Germany and internationally on strategic communications and campaigning. Since 2019, he has served as director of the Institute for Media and Communications Policy (IfM). Novy pursued his academic studies in history and political science at Humboldt University Berlin, and the University of Cambridge (MPhil, PhD). He was a Fellow at Harvard University from 2004 to 2005 and a Visiting Scholar at Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik, Berlin. Following his doctorate in international politics, Novy held various positions in journalism and the think tank sector. Committed to media freedom and journalism education, Novy frequently contributes to both national and international media outlets. is the author of several books, including Imagining the Future of Europe: National Identity, Mass Media and the Public Sphere in the European Union (Palgrave Macmillan).
