Martyna Kalvaitytė is a PhD candidate in the Governance program, focusing on AI governance and regulation, particularly the standardisation processes to meet EU AI Act needs. She is also an AI trustworthiness researcher at VDE and was the Article 19 Internet of Rights Fellow for 2023/24.
Previously, Martyna worked on the EU innovation policy and the Digital Markets Act (DMA) as a Blue Book trainee at the European Commission’s DG CNECT. Martyna has worked on AI governance at GPAI (OECD) and AI standardisation at AXA’s AI research team. Her interest in AI governance stems from privacy research, which she has pursued across startups, NGOs, and think tanks in Lithuania, Washington, D.C., and India. Martyna graduated with distinction from Sciences Po Paris with a Master’s in Public Policy, Digital and New Technologies.
