The new student government represents all programmes and includes 16 members.
With the start of the new academic year, the student body has elected its new student government, the Hertie Student Representation Council 2025–2026. The new chairperson is Andrew Hastings, the deputy chairperson is Megan Kraly, and the treasurer is Philipp Grote.
What is the Hertie School Representation?
The Hertie Student Representation (HSR) serves as the student government at the Hertie School. This year, the HSR Council includes four Master of Public Policy students, three Master of International Affairs students, three Master of Data Science for Public Policy students, two Executive Master of Public Administration students, and four PhD researchers. Elections are held during the first few weeks of each academic year. The elected representatives then vote on the HSR Board, which comprises a chairperson, a deputy chairperson, and a treasurer. Members serve one-year terms.
The duties of the HSR Council include attending and voting at meetings of the Academic Senate, the school’s official decision-making body, addressing student concerns, promoting student interests, and allocating funds for clubs and events.
Meet this year’s representatives
The new HSR consists of 16 students. Susan Elizabeth Cassibry, Bruno Galvão and Giulia Maria Petrilli will represent the Master of Data Science for Public Policy. Philipp Grote, Megan Kraly and Andrew Hastings will represent the Master of International Affairs. David Busley, Anna Lussier, Dhruti Kalavapudi, and Sara Goodno will represent the Master of Public Policy. The representatives of the Executive Master of Public Administration are Alokita Jha and Sara Gebrayel. The PhD representatives are Anna Kubaszewska, Lea Schubert, Leonhard Schmidt, and Dion Stevers.
“As chairperson, it is a privilege to represent the student body, especially on key issues like ethical funding, decolonising curriculum, and increasing student decision-making power,” says newly elected chairperson Andrew Hastings to the Hertie student community.
"For me, the HSR is about combining creativity and efficiency with community,” comments deputy chairperson Megan Kraly. "I love finding innovative ways to support my peers and truly value being a resource for others, whether that means listening, exchanging ideas, or helping bring student priorities to life.”
Newly elected treasurer Philipp Grote is especially eager to collaborate with student clubs to help bring students’ ideas to fruition. “From providing funding to streamlining processes, my focus is to empower student initiatives and make sure everyone can create activities that bring us together as a community,” he says.
