Senior Fellow Paul Fehlinger launches platform to bridge policy and venture capital worlds

VC+POLICY is a new platform dedicated to bridging venture capital, policy, and innovation, addressing the critical intersection of tech regulation and entrepreneurship shaping Europe’s economic future.

About VC + POLICY

This initiative comes at a crucial time when the intersection of technology regulation and innovation is increasingly shaping Europe's economic future and the Draghi Report calls on Europe to double down on investment and efforts to ensure the continent's growth, resilience, and global competitiveness. VC+POLICY serves as an agile repository of conversations and articles exploring how to better bridge the venture capital, policy, and entrepreneurial innovation worlds. In an increasingly complex landscape where tech becomes regulated and geoeconomics plays a larger role, the platform aims to contribute to shaping a future where venture capital, policy, and entrepreneurship work together to advance responsible technological progress.

Why We Need to Rethink the VC-Policy Relationship

In one of the platform's inaugural articles, Fehlinger collaborates with Leo Ringer, Founding Partner at Form Ventures, a London-based VC firm specialising in regulated markets, to examine the often dysfunctional relationship between venture capital and regulation in Europe. The piece, titled "From Obstacle to Opportunity — How Regulatory Engagement Could Reshape European Venture Capital," argues for a fundamental shift in how VCs approach regulation.

The authors propose moving beyond the traditional pattern of crisis-driven engagement toward a more proactive, strategic approach. They outline practical steps for creating sustained dialogue mechanisms between VCs and policymakers, emphasising that successful ecosystems will be those that harness the interplay between regulation and tech as a competitive advantage.
