Berlin, 18 September 2025. Jennifer Morgan will join the Hertie School in Berlin as a Fellow starting in October 2025. Morgan will contribute her extensive experience in international climate policy, diplomacy, and societal transformation to research projects and teaching activities, working closely with the university’s Centre for Sustainability.

Morgan’s appointment represents the further expansion of the Hertie School’s network of teaching and research staff, which includes its 36-member faculty as well as international figures from politics and civil society.

“We are gaining an outstanding figure with Jennifer Morgan, who combines international experience from academia, politics and civil society on the global stage. Morgan will also become a Senior Fellow at the Fletcher School of International Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University.

Jennifer Morgan adds: “The challenges of the 21st century demand innovation and the courage to explore new paths together. The Hertie School brings together bright minds from over 70 nations and offers a unique environment with its combination of academic excellence and practice-oriented teaching. I am very much looking forward to this new role and to working with the university’s researchers and students.”

Previously, she was Executive Director of Greenpeace International and held senior positions at the World Resources Institute, E3G, and the WWF. She is regarded as one of the most prominent voices on climate policy worldwide.

Morgan will join other high-profile figures from politics and civil society at the Hertie School who contribute their expertise as guest professors or fellows, including Kostas Bakoyannis (former Mayor of Athens), Armand Zorn (Deputy Chair of the SPD parliamentary group in the German Bundestag) and Marija Golubeva (former Minister of the Interior of Latvia).
