A look at the semester ahead

From mentoring programmes to colloquia, a networking event and other initiatives, learn what the Centre for Sustainability has to offer this semester.

Whether you are a student, researcher, or professional with an interest in climate policy, energy policy, and/or sustainability, or you're just curious to learn more about these topics, here is an overview of our mentoring programmes and upcoming events. Keep an eye on the Centre for Sustainability website, where you can find up to date information on all our events and initiatives. 

Mentoring Programmes 

1. HEEN Mentoring Programme

Practitioners from politics, business and civil society have the opportunity to collaborate with a student on a master’s thesis on the topic of sustainability. 

18 September: opening of applications; 6 October: application deadline 

2. Women in Sustainability (WiS) Mentoring Programme

Small-group mentoring programme for women-identifying students who are interested in careers in the fields of climate, energy, and sustainability.  

25 September: opening of applications, 6 October: application deadline

Sustainability Colloquium - Indonesia's climate policy in an international context with Kuki Soejachmoen

Online presentation by Moekti Handajani (Kuki) Soejachmoen, Executive Director of the Indonesia Research Institute for Decarbonization (IRID). 

Energy & Climate Networking Event (Save the date!)

Thursday, 16 November

Networking event where you will have the opportunity to hear from and meet representatives (including Hertie alumni) from several organisations working in the areas of energy and climate in Berlin and beyond. More details coming soon.

Sustainability Colloquium - The role of great powers in the international politics of climate change with Robert Falkner

Plan ahead for your Sustainability Certificate 

The Centre for Sustainability offers a Certificate in Sustainability for students enrolled in the MIA, MPP, and MDS programs at the Hertie School. The Certificate is awarded to students who complete two courses and a master’s thesis in sustainability.

We are also looking forward to celebrating 20 Years of the Hertie School this with the wider Hertie School community this academic year, including through sustainability-focused events. We look forward to seeing you around campus this semester!
