Hertie School kicks off 2018/19 professional mentoring programme

Hertie School Practice Council, partner organisations mentor students for second year.

The Hertie School kicked off the second year of its mentoring programme, which was launched in 2017. The programme brings together scholarship holders, members of the Hertie School Practice Council, and the school's partner organisations.

Throughout the year, students and mentors are partners in a professional relationship. The programme takes place during students' first year of study. It is designed to help orient them in a new phase of working life and provide an opportunity to learn from each other’s experience, while offering advice, support and guidance.

The kick-off and conclusion of last year's programme were celebrated at a reception on 20 September, with 17 mentees and four mentors, including Susanna Krüger, CEO and Member of the Board of Save the Children Deutschland, Hans Hofmann, Director-General for Central Services at the German Ministry of Interior, Achim Dercks, Deputy Managing Director of the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and Patrick Lobis, Head of the Political Team at the Representation of the EU Commission in Berlin.

The Hertie School's Practice Council is made up of distinguished professionals from government, business and civil society, who ensure that the school's curricular developments are in step with developments in their fields of work, and with the demands of the German and international job markets.
