Boundless crises and more unfinished business unpacked
The war in Syria, the refugee crisis, the global activities of jihadist terrorist groups and the precarious state of the European security order: these were just some of the Munich Security Conference (MSC) agenda points in 2016. For the 52nd time, dozens of heads of state and government as well as foreign and defence ministers from all over the world came together in Munich on 12-14 February, under the chairmanship of Ambassador Wolfgang Ischinger, to discuss a wide range of international security challenges.
The discussion at the Hertie School picked up on the MSC's agenda points and conclusions, illuminated trends and critical challenges to international security, and focused on follow-up actions to be taken. The discussion also touched upon questions raised in Anne-Marie Slaughter's latest book.
