At this colloquium, Jacqueline Adelowo will present her research on electricity grid outages across countries and their implications for modern economies. The talk highlights global patterns in outages and discusses what policymakers can do to reduce risks in the face of growing demand and climate pressures.
Following the presentation, attendees will have the chance to discuss and ask questions. This session will be moderated by Chiara Fusar Bassini.

Jacqueline Adelowo
Jacqueline Adelowo is an Economist at ifo Institute, Center for Energy, Climate, and Resources and Junior Faculty (non-TT) at the Department of Economics at LMU Munich (University of Munich). She is a CESifo Affiliate. Previously, Adelowo was a research fellow at Politecnico di Torino (Turin) and has visited Imperial College London. She received her PhD from LMU Munich in 2025.
Her work lies at the intersection of energy economics with environmental and climate economics and industrial organisation. Adelowo is particularly interested in studying electricity markets and their competitive dynamics, decarbonisation, and adaptation, using empirical and numerical optimisation methods.
