Keynote Roundtable Discussion: The Challenge of Migrant Solidarit(ies)

This Keynote Roundtable discussion is part of the workshop on Transdisciplinary Conversations on Migrant Solidarity: Definitional & Experiential Approximations

This Keynote Roundtable discussion will feature Professor Cecilia Bailliet (UN Independent Expert on Human Rights and International Solidarity), Professor Pablo Ceriani (National University of Lanús & Vice-Chairperson of the United Nations Committee on the Rights of Migrant Workers and Their Families (CMW)), and Michèle LeVoy (Director of PICUM) for a conversation on the risk and potentialities of “solidarity” in the migration context. They will share their views on the extent to which solidarity may work to channel rights-related struggles and to amplify rights claims by migrant communities and those who stand in solidarity with them. They will also debate whether, to the contrary, there may be limitations to the use of solidarity to support migrant rights. The speakers will rely on their vast experience and expertise in the field of migration, human rights, and solidarity. The discussion will be followed by Q&A.
