Annik Hartmann studied international affairs, specialising in security and defence policy at the Hertie School. As part of her degree, she spent a semester at the Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. During her Professional Year, she worked in the EU Directorate of the Security and Defence Policy Department of the German Federal Ministry of Defence. Afterwards, Annik continued to work as a part-time Desk Officer at the defence ministry. Before attending the Hertie School, she completed a Bachelor’s degree in European Studies at the University of Passau. During her time in Passau, she gained practical international experience through a traineeship at the European Parliament and a programme management internship at a German political foundation’s US office in Washington, DC.
