Ashley Chia specialises in gender and its intersection with security and technology. She is an Advisor at UN Women Asia and the Pacific and is completing a Master of Science in Gender, Peace and Security at the London School of Economics and Political Science. At the Hertie School, Ashley studied in the Executive MPA programme focusing on digitalisation and big data. She co-founded the Hertie School Asia Network and has more than 10 years of experience as a journalist and communications specialist in the technology, finance and international affairs sectors. She has worked for the United Nations, South China Morning Post, Ant Group, HSBC and the Ministry of Education Singapore. She also holds a Bachelor of Mass Communication from Murdoch University.
