Vartika Savarna holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Delhi and a Postgraduate Diploma in Liberal Arts from Ashoka University in India. As a public policy student at the Hertie School, she was awarded the Helmut-Schmidt Scholarship by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). Prior to this, she was a development sector professional in India, having worked with organisations like the Public Health Foundation of India, the YP Foundation and Samhita Social Ventures, in the fields of health, gender rights and corporate social responsibility. While at the Hertie School, she interned at the WZB Berlin Social Science Center and worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Hertie School. She is trained in quantitative analysis and her research interests include development policies focusing on social inequalities, health and gender inequity.
