Tessa Sontheimer holds two Bachelor of Science degrees from The Pennsylvania State University in community, environment, and development and global and international studies. Prior to attending the Hertie School, she pursued a Master of Public Administration with a focus on state and local government financial analysis and management at Syracuse University. At the Hertie School, she pursued a Master of Public Policy. Her other professional experience includes interning at the City Manager’s Office in Alexandria, Virginia and in the urban policy department of the think tank the German Marshall Fund of the United States. During her master’s studies in Berlin she worked as the student editorial assistant at the Internet Policy Review at the Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society.
