Akhil Deo is a lawyer and security analyst working at the intersection of emerging technologies and international security. At the Hertie School, he studied international affairs, specialising in security studies and the governance of digital technologies. During his masters' studies, he was a student researcher with the Centre for International Security at the Hertie School, where he supported a project on the EU's external action policies. Before joining the Hertie School Akhil was a Junior Fellow at the Observer Research Foundation (ORF), an Indian think tank, where he worked on Indo-Pacific security and technology diplomacy. Akhil is interested in opportunities to support technology diplomacy and study how social media affects international security.
