Supported by the DAAD and the German Federal Foreign Office, Professor Henke will conduct research at the Henry A. Kissinger Center for Global Affairs.
For the 2023-24 academic year, Marina Henke, Professor of International Relations and Director of the Centre for International Security, has taken up a position as Helmut Schmidt Distinguished Visiting Professor at Johns Hopkins University. The Helmut Schmidt Distinguished Professorship is one- to two-year position sponsored by the DAAD using funds from the German Federal Foreign Office. It is awarded to a distinguished academic or researcher from a German research institution or university in order to promote transatlantic cooperation on global challenges.
‘‘With Marina Henke, we were able to gain a proven international expert in European security and defence policy to be our Helmut Schmidt Distinguished Visiting Professor at one of the most prestigious research universities in the United States,” explained Professor Joybrato Mukherjee, President of the DAAD, “We are therefore delighted that she and her colleagues will be conducting research at the Johns Hopkins University’s Kissinger Center into topics relating to security policy. We are hoping that as Visiting Professor she will introduce new perspectives and impetus into current and future security issues.”
During her sabbatical in the United States, Prof. Dr. Julian Wucherpfennig and Prof. Dr. Anita Gohdes will serve as Co-Directors of the Centre for International Security.
