William Bale is Associate at the Centre for International Security. Prior to joining the Hertie School, he worked at adelphi consult supporting the European Commission in the further development of the EU Ecolabel as a tool for promoting sustainable consumption and production. William graduated from the Berlin School of Economics and Law in M.A. International Economics and holds a bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences from the University of Birmingham, UK. His research interests include the rise of right-wing populism in Europe and issues surrounding sustainability.

Die Hertie School im Herzen Berlins und Europas ist eine international renommierte Hochschule für Politikgestaltung und gute Regierungsführung. In Masterstudiengängen, Doktorandenprogrammen und Executive Education-Kursen bildet sie Führungskräfte für Politik, Wirtschaft und Zivilgesellschaft aus. Unter dem Leitgedanken „Understand today. Shape tomorrow.“ forscht die Hertie School international, lehrt praxisnah und gestaltet ein Forum für die öffentliche Diskussion. Sechs Kompetenzzentren stärken die Expertise der Universität in den Bereichen Europa, Internationale Sicherheit, Grundrechte, Nachhaltigkeit, Digitale Steuerung und Datenwissenschaft. Die Hertie School wurde 2004 von der Gemeinnützigen Hertie-Stiftung gegründet und wird seither maßgeblich von ihr getragen. Sie ist Mitglied der Europäischen Hochschulallianz CIVICA, ist staatlich anerkannt und vom Akkreditierungsrat sowie vom Wissenschaftsrat akkreditiert.
